These type of brakes are normally-off type and operates on power. When power is given to the stator (coil), the armature is attracted towards the asbestos free friction liner of the brake stator which clamps the rotating component stop at once.
On switching off the electric power, the unique prestressed spring pulls the armature plate back into its original position and brake positively released with no residual torque.
Bearing Mounted Clutches
Type - UBC (Normally Off)
Torque : 8 Nm-500 Nm
Bearing mounted clutches are normally off type and operate on DC voltage. On applying DC voltage to the stator (coil) strong magnetic filed is produced, which pulls the armature towards the friction material of the rotor over the air gap and torque gets transmitted free of backlash.
On switching off power supply, the unique prestressed spring the armature back into the original position and clutch is positively released free from residual torque.
